OUR FOCUS THIS WEEK:
Our Learning Skills Goal for this week will be to continue improving our Self Discipline learning skills and work habits. Please keep track of your progress using your "How is it "Goal"ing?" Graph. I will collect your completed Goal Graphs Thurs March 24.
Mathematics: we will be reviewing key math terminology we have studied so far. We will be creating our own math board games to help extend our knowledge of math concepts and practice using formulas. We will begin our fractions unit. We will represent, compare and order fractions and decimals.
Mon March 7- Work on your rough draft for your math board game
Literacy: we will be continuing our Independent Novel Study. We will have 4 cycles (weeks) to complete the selected reading for each cycle and assignments (Reading Response, Summary and Choice of a Word Activity). Please keep track of your reading response questions in your booklet.
Cycle 3 summary & reading response due Fri March 11.
Science: We will continue our Fluids Unit focusing on fluid mechanics and density and buoyancy.
We will analyze how the properties of fluids are used in various technologies and we will assess the impact of these technologies on society and the environment.
Health: We will continue working on our Substance Abuse Inquiry. We will research short term, long term side effects of various substances, and how it impacts an addicts life. We will promote awareness by sharing our inquiry research in a powerpoint, or poster, or video.

Physical Education: Day 1 & 3 we will continue our Comprehension of Fitness Concepts unit. We will apply personal skills and critical and creative thinking skills as we demonstrate an understanding of the importance of being active, including factors that motivate us to be active. We will create 20 minute fitness routines that will consist of a warm up, 3 fitness circuits and a cool down.
First groups will begin instructing their fitness routines Wed March 9.
History: we will continue our Creating Canada History Unit. We will learn about the events and people that impacted Canada between 1850-1890.
