OUR FOCUS THIS WEEK: Our Learning Skills Goal for this week will be improving our Self-Regulation learning skills and habits. Please keep track of your progress using your "How is it "Goal"ing?" Graph. I will collect your completed Goal Graphs Friday January 29.. Mathematics: we have completed our Exponents and Pythagoras Unit. This week we begin exploring Circles- CircleTerminology, investigating the relationship between the circumference and the diameter of a circle, and how to solve real world problems using the formulas for the circumference of a circle.

Literacy:We are starting our Literacy Circles- Cycle two this week. Please follow to the literacy cycle schedule to make sure you are ready for each weekly discussion day. Literacy Circle:CYCLE ONE Reflection and your own Role Responsibility is due Wed Jan 27. Science: we are continuing our Cells unit. We will Investigate functions, processes & structures of plant & animal cells. We will be sharing our cell representations with the class. "Cells! Cells! They're made of organelles." Science Homework: Check your plant & animal cell diagrams and make sure you have both labelled correctly. Begin studying for our Cells Quiz. Know the differences between an animal and plant cell and the cell theory.
Physical Education: Day 1 & 3 we will contine our Movement Competence, Active Living Target Games Unit focusing on applying a variety of strategies in order to avoid obstacles and enhance their ability to participate successfully in collaborative target games.
Drama: we will be collaborating with our groups using elements of drama (role, relationship, time, place, tension, focus and Emphasis) to produce our favourite scene from our Literacy Circles so far. Literacy Circle Skits will be Fri Jan 29. Geography: we will continue working on our Development and Quality of Life Inquiry. We will investigate issues related to global development & quality of life from a geographic perspective. We will continue working on our Geography Unit 2 Challenge: selecting a problem faced by many children that impacts their quality of life, research the problem, where it occurs, the organization helping the children and create a plan on how you can help the organization.
