Mathematics: we are continuing our Exponents and Pythagoras Unit. This week we will continue to practice finding the square root, and how to solve real world problems using the Pythagorean Relationship.

Literacy:We are starting our Literacy Circles this week. Please follow to the literacy cycle schedule to make sure you are ready for each weekly discussion day. Literacy Circle:CYCLE ONE Reflection and your own Role Responsibility is due Thurs Jan 21. Science: we are continuing our Cells unit. We will Investigate functions, processes & structures of plant & animal cells. "Cells! Cells! They're made of organelles." Science Homework: bring in materials to create your cell (animal or plant cell) for Friday Period 5 & 6
Check your plant & animal cell diagrams and make sure you have both labelled correctly.
Physical Education: Day 1 & 3 we will begin our Movement Competence, Active Living Target Games Unit focusing on applying a variety of strategies in order to avoid obstacles and enhance their ability to participate successfully in collaborative target games.
Drama: we will be collaborating with our groups using elements of drama (role, relationship, time, place, tension, focus and Emphasis) to produce persuasive commercials. We will be using topics from our argumentative essays. Commercial Presentations will be Wed Jan 20. Geography: we will continue working on our Development and Quality of Life Inquiry. We will investigate issues related to global development & quality of life from a geographic perspective. We will begin our Geography Unit 2 Challenge: selecting a problem faced by many children that impacts their quality of life, research the problem, where it occurs, the organization helping the children and create a plan on how you can help the organization.
